2008 Sculpture Contest
From mid-2008 until late 2009, ten splendid sculptures adorned the grounds of the Sandy Springs Regional Library. They were created by regional artists and selected from over 80 submissions from Utah to Italy, in rigorous judging by a panel of distinguished judges.
Judges Jerry Collum, Senior Editor of Art Papers, Mark Karelson, Owner and Director of Mason Murer Fine Art, and George Beasley, Regents Professor of Sculpture, Georgia State University, commented that there were enough fine works in the submissions to mount a second exhibition.
During the first two months of the exhibition, the public was invited to vote on their favorite sculpture. The winning piece,
Tumble, by David Landis, recieved a $15,000 prize and was donated to the City of Sandy Springs for permanent display.
The award was made possible by a grant from The Sandy Springs Society.
